"Long one of San Francisco's most vibrant hubs of literature, particularly of the Scottish variety, Edinburgh Castle has frequently hosted events featuring or related to Scotland's best-known contemporary writer, Irvine Welsh. Ten years after the pub presented a stage version of Trainspotting, Welsh's breakthrough novel about heroin addicts in Edinburgh, this event celebrates the cult book, play, and movie. Renton, Begbie, Spud, and Sick Boy are revisited through film clips, readings, and live music, with the proceeds going towards this June's production of Welsh's new play, Babylon Heights, at the Exit.
