Trevor Watts is well known as an innovator on the UK music scene. Being part of the Spontaneous Music Ensemble and Amalgam in the 1960’s & early 70’s. This group developed its own language within free improvisation and Jazz, and the methods they developed has now permanently entered the language of that music. Trevor started to experiment with more Rhythmic and Melodic musical ideas and formed his 10 piece Moire Music Group and also Drum Orchestra in 1982. The Drum Orchestra was a blend of African and European musicians, and they toured many countries in the World over many years including the USA (San Francisco Jazz Festival/Monterey Jazz Festival/Chicago World Music Festival/Washington D.C. July 4th Festival and many more), Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Colombia, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Sarawak, India, Burma, Singapore, Australia, N Zealand, Azores Islands, Jamaica, Trinidad, St Lucia, Bahamas and all of Europe. Since those days Trevor has studied rhythm and has always developed music in his own style. Currently Trevor is playing in Duo form with Folk/Rock violinist Peter Knight from Steeleye Span. Another Duo with Veryan Weston the pianist, and he is intending to put a Trevor Watts “Worldbeat” Trio together for a tour in the USA & Canada in May 2008 with two Toronto based musicians.
