Tree Lighting & SCC Grant Distribution December 6, 2006

Speedway Motorsports Chairman and CEO Bruton Smith will light a one-of-a-kind Christmas tree at the main entrance to Lowe's Motor Speedway and distribute in excess of $589,000 to 66 local organizations on behalf of Speedway Children's Charities. The money will assist nonprofit charities making a direct and significant impact in the lives of children in need. The public is invited to attend the ceremony that will include lighting a 50-foot Christmas tree; holiday music; hot chocolate and apple cider; an appearance by Lug Nut, the world's fastest mascot; and Santa arriving in a stock car.
