The Transit of Venus - when the planet Venus is visible as a black dot moving across the face of the Sun - has occurred only seven times since the invention of the telescope and will not occur again in our lifetime! Members of the University Lowbrow Astronomers discuss the history and science of the Transit and how to protect your eyes and equipment while viewing it. Then, follow us at 5:30pm to nearby Leslie Park for a 6PM public viewing of this rare celestial event. Program participants will receive safe solar glasses to view the Transit of Venus. *In case of inclement weather, AADL will project a live Internet feed of the Transit at the Traverwood Branch.
