Certification Program in Technical Writing

Course content:
The course is design by keeping in mind that it should be domain independent. So we will be covering all necessary skills one should have to work as technical writer in any domain (engineering, IT, Aeronautics, Marine, Pharmacy, Medicine etc.).
The course will cover following modules;

1)Basics of technical writing (one day)
This will cover
i.What is technical writing
ii.Need for technical writing
iii.Forms of technical writing
iv.Fields of application
v.Some examples

2)Document Development Life Cycle: (one day)
Document development life cycle is the technique with which one can create technical document for any product across the universe and which will be acceptable to maximum audience across the globe.

3)Authoring Tools:
This module will cover
i.How to select authoring tool for creation of technical document
ii.What are developing tools, graphics tools, publishing tools
iii.Exploring mostly accepted tools,
a.M.S. Word (five days)
b.Adobe Professional (one day)
c.Adobe Photoshop / SnagIt (five days)
d.Adobe FrameMaker 7.1(7days)

4)Exposure to actual projects (3 days)
In this module some recent project done by the company will be shared and discussed. Depending on the performance one can also get an opportunity to be part of live project. We will be also expecting one project to be completed by all individuals participating the training program.

5)HR Sessions: (one day)
In this basic personality to be develop to work, as technical writer will be discussed by the HR executives.


6)Certification:
Based on performance of the participant throughout the training, certification will be awarded to the participant. The best grade one can get is ‘A’ where as lowest will be ‘C’.

Some Important Points:

1)We are not a training institute so whatever knowledge we will be sharing will be practical not theoretical. Fees we are charging is operating and time cost. We are not focusing this as a commercial activity.
2)We will make sure that you will be full fledge technical writer at the end of the training program.
3)We will provide job assistance.
4)Participant not performing up to the mark will be given repeat training before moving on to the next module.
5)Person can opt for any domain after successful completion of the program.
6)Company will be providing course material.

Batch Schedule:

Batch commencing on 10th July 2008.

Maximum capacity of the batch is 5.

Timing: Four hours (Two ours training + Two hours tutorial) between 8.30 am to 6:15 pm.

Course Duration: Four weeks (Monday through Friday)
