A rare chance to see the Museum's fabulous Gauge 0 railway layout and vintage train collection come to life, running in its full unbridled glory. Trains being run will include the Brighton Belle, Flying Scotsman, Orient Express and many, many others.
Commentary (and train noises) will be provided by the Master of Ceremonies, Museum Director Chris Littledale.
Period trains and rolling stock in action will include vintage pieces by Hornby, Bassett-Lowke, Exley, Märklin, Bing, Mills, Carette and others, passing through an engrossing layout of 1930's buildings and classic period vehicles and posed lead figures, some of which are the best (and in some cases, the only) known surviving examples on public display.
There will be morning and afternoon runnings, ~10:30am-1pm, and ~2pm-4:30pm, with a one-hour break (timings are approximate). The Museum typically only runs the full layout in public on one day each year - miss it at your peril!
