Acclaimed chef and fun family format come to Northern Nevada culinary event

FALLON, NEV. — One of our region’s top chefs will bring local food and wine to your table at Fallon’s Tractors and Truffles for the can’t miss culinary event of the year.

Renowned Reno Chef Mark Estee will feature Fallon’s thriving agriculture in a farm-to-table cooking style along with chefs Steve Hernandez and Mark Davis.

Estee, the celebrity guest chef for this year’s event, is the executive chef and owner of Campo in Reno, and is known for his holistic, ingredient-focused approach using the freshest seasonal ingredients, the perfect style for working with local farms and ranches.

Fallon’s own Steve Hernandez, chef at The Slanted Porch, and Chef Director at the International Culinary School at the Art Institute of California, San Francisco, Mark Davis will join Estee in leading farm tours and cooking demonstrations, as well as crafting a gourmet dinner out of ingredients straight from the farm.

This year’s dinner will be family-style, with seating along long tables for more interaction and participation, while the chef’s kitchen will be placed so the guests can see the frantic pace and expert assembly of each course.

“The farmers who grow the food will be invited to attend to make the connection between farm and dinner more meaningful,” said Rick Gray, executive director of the Fallon Convention & Tourism Authority.

Lunch will be hosted at Lattin Farms, a family-owned, fifth-generation Fallon farm known for producing vine-ripened fruit and crisp, flavorful produce.

Churchill Vineyards, one of the nation’s most unique winemakers, will host a wine-tasting event, where Tractors and Truffles guests will be able to sample the subtle flavors and rich body of award-winning wines grown in the cool nights and warm days of Fallon’s high-desert climate. Churchill Vineyards produces the only wine that is grown, aged and bottled in Nevada.

Both a music workshop in the afternoon and a performance in the evening will come from The Defibulators, an energetic and entertaining band that has melded bluegrass, rockabilly, classic country and even a little punk into their own eclectic indie honky-tonk sound.
