Come to the Exploratorium’s Overnight Eclipse Viewing Party!
July 31, 2008 at 9 p.m. into the Wee Hours of Eclipse Totality at 4:09 a.m. (PDT) on Friday, August 1

Since the eclipse is not visible at all in the United States, San Francisco's Exploratorium brings its fifth eclipse expedition team to remote Xinjiang Province and will webcast the full solar eclipse live to the world using a NASA satellite. See the Eclipse from Northwestern China live at the Exploratorium with video and commentary by Exploratorium and NASA scientists and guests.

It is both a celebration and party, a look at Chinese culture, and pure Sun-Earth Connection science. The celebration begins with astronomers, food, music, and of course, tea/caffeine, to keep you alert for the big event.

If you visit:

Pack your sleeping bag or blanket and camp out on the museum floor!

Bring a picnic! The museum café will be open from 9pm-midnight.

T-shirts and DVDs available at the Exploratorium Store at http://store.exploratorium.edu/browse.cfm/4,3622.html

General admission will be open from 9pm-4am. Museum capacity is limited; we may sell out early and strongly encourage advance reservations. Call in for tickets with no service charge at (415) 561-0308, especially if you plan to arrive late! Or go online for regular advance tickets at http://www.ticketweb.com

Viewing will also be available in a 3D world and online community known as Second Life: http://www.secondlife.com.
