Toronto DJ Festival July 8, 2006

Toronto – The 2006 Toronto DJ Festival is the hottest summer party recognizing DJ’s, and organizations in the urban music industry. The Toronto DJ Festival welcomes the community to come out for a festival of great music, atmosphere and exciting DJ competitions, while raising funds for non-profit organization, MusicBox Children’s Charity.

The Toronto DJ Festival has partnered with MusicBox Children’s Charity to raise funds to build awareness, educate and promote the musical arts to children youth and the underprivileged. “This is an event to recognize the talents of DJs and music, but I want it to be also for the community,” said Frank Zhou, event coordinator of the Toronto DJ Festival.

The Toronto DJ Festival is an event with new concepts, elements and sound. For the first time ever in Canada, the festival is introducing the 1st ever digital DJ competition “ Serato Showdown”. DJs will put technology to play, with traditional DJ equipment and move the crowd with the sound of digital spinning. Witness DJs go sound-to-sound in the first ever in Canada, digital DJ competition the “ Serato Showndown”.

A major component of event is the Toronto eliminations of the DMC Canadian Championships (www.dmccanada.com) . This is a face off of DJs as they must prove themselves in image and sound. The competition separates the real art of DJing from a DJ who just shuffles one track to the next.

“This year’s DJ Festival us a unique blend of concepts from music, to technology, to building awareness in our community,” said Mike Labo, event coordinator of The Toronto DJ Festival.

The Toronto DJ Festival is on Saturday July 8, from 12:00p.m. to 10:00p.m. at the Ryerson Theatre in Toronto, and welcomes people of all ages. The Toronto DJ Festival’s title sponsor is Universal Urban division of Universal Music Canada.
