Forever etched in the reggae/ska history books, Toots and the Maytals rose to success in 60s Jamaica, around the same time as Peter Tosh, The Wailers and Bob Marley. Bandleader Frederick "Toots" Hibbert penned the now infamous song, "54-46 That's My Number,' which has been covered by just about every reggae band in the world. The Maytals were, and still are, known for some of the best vocal Gospel-esque harmonies in reggae. When first seeing success in Jamaica, it was said their songs and talent surpassed and overshadowed those of the Wailers. After a long break, they rejoined in the '90s and have since worked with Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and the Roots. Come out and welcome them back to StageOne, your home for original roots reggae.
