I don't know what you were doing when you were 13, but I was hastily perfecting my electric slide technique so I would not look like a fool at bar/bat mitzvahs. now all those hours of practice, sweat and toil will have another outlet. 5:45 pm on this friday meet at the fountain outside of union station. we will be doing the electric slide. and it will be glorious. and since none of you were able to make it to no pants metro, you should be there to show off your mad skillzzz. what follows is the "official" announcement...

Hello all -- we've got our first independent mission this Friday and I hope as many of you will show up as possible to make it a success.

The place: Union Station main hall.

The time: this Friday (February 8) at 6:10pm. Please get there at 5:45 and meet at the sculpture/water fountain in front if you can, so we can go over moves and assign an order for who's going to join in when (I'll be easy to spot in a yellow jacket).

The mission: a gradually-building group of people doing the electric slide. I'll start, then I want you guys to slowly join in one by one. We want it to look like everyone's just doing this impromptu--so what you can do is walk over, watch for 30 seconds or a minute, then start dancing with the group! Continue to slowly build a critical mass until about 6:25, at which point I want us to disperse just as slowly and non-chalantly--one by one. I'm anticipating this will go until 6:30 or 6:35.

There won't be any music--there's lots of clapping in the slide so it should be easy to keep together.

Need to brush up on your slide? Check out: http://the-electricslidedance.com/ I think we should do the simple version with no crazy spins or anything, as they demonstrate in the first two videos on that site (though you're free to spice it up on your own if you're a master slider :)

See you there!
