Tom Russell came originally from Los Angeles and now lives in El Paso. He sketched both cities through the dual lenses of Orson Welles's movie camera and a dying relationship in the masterpiece "Touch of Evil." Russell, says Ark volunteer George Allen, "can tell a story about anything." He's written vivid historical songs, ambitious portraits of love gone wrong, big Nashville hits, slices of barroom gloom, anthems of social commentary, a career-making song about a cockfight -- you name it! Tom recently released a new album, "Blood and Candle Smoke." The Russell faithful have heard amazing songs from the album in concert -- like "Criminology," a one-of-a-kind account of all the times Tom has looked down the wrong end of a gun, beginning with an episode in Nigeria in 1971. Come and check out the inimitable Tom Russell's latest thoughts in full!
