ArtsEmerson: The World On Stage presents Together. Xiaochun, a thirteen-year-old violin prodigy, and his father journey from a small town in Southern China to Beijing in the hope of furthering Xiaochun’s musical studies. As his father pushes his talented son on the path to fame and success, Xiaochun falls in love for the first time with a neighbor girl. A poignant father and son story set against the backdrop of modern China, a country torn between the familiarity of the old ways and the temptations of a new consumer culture.
