Atticus Finch, a widowed lawyer, strives to create an atmosphere free from hatred and discrimination for his two children, 6-year-old Scout and her 10-year-old brother, Jem. When he agrees to defend an African American accused of raping a local town girl, his children and the entire town are thrust into a life changing summer about prejudice, love, courage and the loss of innocence.
