Tlen-Huicani ("the singers"), under the direction of the great folk harpist Alberto de la Rosa, is one of Mexico's leading folkloric ensembles. The group, which has made the harpa jarocha the centerpiece of its music, specializes in the music of Veracruz - from the slower-paced huasteco in the north to the uptempo jarocho in the south. In addition to the joyous music of its homeland, the ensemble performs other musical genres from Latin America, especially those of Venezuela, Argentina, Colombia, Paraguay and Peru.
