Tinariwen, the acclaimed band of Tamashek (Tuareg) nomads from the Sahara of northern Mali, returns to New York with its pioneering music that evokes the life and struggles of the contemporary Tamashek people. The group痴 mesmerizing sound, which has garnered international attention since Tinariwen痴 appearance at the Festival of the Desert, is reminiscent of deep funky Delta blues and the trance-like blues of the Mississippi hill country.
