The Tiki Bar Allstars are a revolving door of San Diego based career entertainers who first came together as a band to perform at a mutual friend's wedding. They were so well received, and had so much fun in the process, they resolved to perform together as often as possible, given the constraints of their ever in demand separate schedules. In this incarnation Jerry Gontang, leader of the very popular trop-rock band Stars on the Water, brings his ever smiling and laid back vocals, guitar, bass, and songwriting talents to the mix, Joe Rathburn singer/songwriter/guitarist known for his own songs as much as for his love for the Caribbean island sounds of Buffett, Belafonte, and Marley, and John Foltz, the powerfully voiced piano man, wows 'em every time with his skills as a singer, writer, pianist and interpreter of pop hits from the last three decades. They're joined by percussionist extraordinaire, Jeff Stasny and play together as if they have always played together. The group embodies the word fun as they cavort through their sets made up from each of their eclectic repertoires. Aside from their own wonderful original songs, you're likely to hear Jimmy Buffett to Billy Joel, Paul Simon to Michael Peter Smith, Jason Mraz to Bob Marley to the Kingston Trio. Beautiful folk story ballads, folk rockers, calypsos, reggae, country harmonies, It's all part of the package with these guys and you'll never hear the same show twice, but it's always good.
