Widely recognized for their involvement on the junk opera Shockheaded Peter, which opened to rave reviews in England in 1998. The show toured the world over for four years (including in 1999 runs at Broadway's New Victory Theatre, and in 2001 the Piccadilly Theatre on London's West End). The show received two Olivier awards (the British equivalent of the Tony) including best supporting role in a musical to frontman Jacques. Treading a fine line between Brecht/Weill opera, English music hall, Gypsy folk and punkish circus music, the Tiger Lillies are like no other band around. One moment their blasphemous, perverse irreverence shocks (often leaving their audience in uncontrollable fits of laughter), the next they still the air with beautiful ballads of death, cruelty or depravity. The Knitting Factory is proud to present an extremely rare performance of the Tiger Lillies on our Main Stage!
