Event Description
The Virginia Poverty Law Center's documentary photography collection, Through Different Eyes: The Faces of Poverty in Virginia, is on display at the Wilton Companies Gallery, UR Downtown, through December 31, 2009.

A panel discussion put on by the Bonner Center for Civic Engagement will be held on October 29 to stimulate awareness and conversation about poverty, and also to examine how photography can be used as a means to shed light on social justice issues.

Speakers include Jeffrey Allison, Paul Mellon Collection Educator, Virginia Museum of Fine Arts; Dr. Douglas Hicks, Professor of Leadership Studies, University of Richmond; Jay Speer, Executive Director, Virginia Poverty Law Center; Robert Grey, Co-chair of the Statewide Taskforce on Poverty Reduction; and John Whitfield, Executive Director, Blue Ridge Legal Services.

Refreshments will be served.
