For those who remember the classic Thoroughly Modern Millie, the musical is going to be on stage at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School on February 4th- 6th. Seventh and Eighth grade students will be starring in the play, all dressed up and singing most of the original sound tracks, so check this musical out. It will be a pleasure for the eyes and ears of the audience.

Based on the 1967 film of the same name, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love – a thoroughly modern aim in 1922 when women were just entering the workforce. Millie, who falls for the flapper lifestyle of New York in the 1920s, will also invite audiences to the exciting period of history when life style of American was rapidly changing.

The original production of the comic pastiche, won six 2002 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. The musical has since become a very popular choice for high school productions, and Betsy White, producer for this play on St. Matthew’s Episcopal Day School, is very looking forward to have many audiences enjoy the musical night with them.
