Third practice is an annual festival of new electroacoustic music and mixed media presented by the department of music and the modlin center for the arts at the university of richmond. Now in its ninth year, the festival will present works for instruments and computer, laptop, video, and stereo and multi-channel works for fixed media.

Third practice 2009 continues along the path laid out by festivals past, and will continue to explore the emerging electroacoustic art form and its relationship to past and present musical practices.

This year's festival will feature concerts by ensemble-in-residence eighth blackbird and internationally renowned clarinetist Arthur Campbell. Third Practice will also present works for solo instruments and computer, video, sound art and other works by composers from around the United States and Europe.

Tickets are not required for this free event.
