One of the delights of baseball is the hilarious characters and situations that the game breeds. That comic combination has created a wonderful legacy of baseball humor. Although baseball players are historically not particularly well-educated, they have often had the perspective to understand that they are being paid to play a boy's game and thus tend to not take themselves too seriously. The presentation by C. Paul Rogers III of Southern Methodist University will feature the humor of some of the game's great characters such as Lefty Gomez, Flint Rhem, Babe Ruth, Dizzy Dean, Yogi Berra, and others.

Lecture guests are invited to join us at the Gazebo for popcorn and soda pop and to meet members of the Farmers Branch Mustangs Vintage Base Ball Club attired in their early 20th century uniforms. The players will be giving out base ball cards complete with their “stats” and will be more than happy to pose for pictures. Make sure to have a look at their reproduction hand-turned bats and lemon-peel base balls.
