The two-weekend event, which includes the sale of plants and seeds, will show how easy it is to plant and care for California natives. With so many homeowners wanting to reduce their water consumption in the yard, many are turning to gardening with California native plants. The annual festival and sale offers a chance to discover the beauty and practicality of California native plants.

The fifty-year-old Theodore Payne Foundation for Wild Flowers and Native Plants, Inc. has dedicated itself to helping Californians discover the beauty of California native plants. The Foundation operates the Theodore Payne Nursery in Sun Valley, which offers more than 500 native plant species for sale to the general public. It is the largest nursery in Los Angeles County devoted exclusively to native plants. In addition to the nursery, the Foundation has classes and operates an annual wildflower hotline. The Foundation honors the legacy of Theodore Payne, who opened his first nursery in 1903 in Los Angeles. In his lifetime, Mr. Payne introduced more than 400 species of native plants into cultivation for public use.
