The Ydessa Hendeles Lecture Series, April 3, 2006

I am pleased to announce that Professor Andreas Huyssen will serve as this year's Ydessa Hendeles Art Foundation Visitor in the Department of Fine Art.

Andreas Huyssen is Villard Professor of German and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, New York. He is a founding editor of New German Critique and the author of numerous books and essays on cultural memory, modernism, mass-culture, and post-modernism. His recent book, Present Pasts: Urban Palimpsests and the Politics of Memory, explores issues of monumentalization in artistic and media practices across a global environment.
