Now scheduled for arrival – “The World Tap Show” – featuring So You Think You Can Dance Canada season two top-five finalist Everett Smith and the all-female professional tap dance company What’s On? Tap!.

The World Tap Show, blending cultural traditions with creativity and tap dance, takes the audience on a virtual journey around the world, through the presentation of many unique musical and dance styles such as hula, Irish step and salsa.

Canadian dance pro and What’s On? Tap! artistic director Kim Chalovich states, “You won’t want to miss this high-energy, toe-tapping trip, filled with awesome hoofers, great music and a clever narration that educates, as well as entertains.”

Toronto’s Everett Smith, understandably a big fan of Gene Kelly, has trained in hip hop, ballet and jazz dance styles and for a 25 year-old his experiences are varied; including appearing in the 2007 movie Hairspray, dancing on the Juno Awards and opening for rapper Ludacris.

The show’s cast also consists of nine Ontario women (Kim Chalovich, Samantha Baldwin, Kristy Best, Shannon Bond, Genevieve Hooker, Rosanne Kissoon, Sarah Marcucci, Lisa Shingler and Jennifer Smith), who collectively bring incredible experience and quality to the stage, as well as authentic dancers representing a variety of world cultures (including Australian, French, Hawaiian, Irish and South American).

Artistic director Kim Chalovich along with friend and fellow tap-dance artist Everett Smith is now scheduled to open a new Tapdance Centre in the fall of 2010 in the Port Credit area of Ontario (more information to be announced in June).

Chalovich has produced, directed and performed in Canada for over 10 years, and is the founder of the professional dance company What’s On? Tap (which has performed to critical acclaim at Ffida “the Fringe” Dance Festival, International Children’s Festival and Dance Ontario Dance Weekend). Chalovich is also the director of the Eastern Canadian Tap Conference (E.C.T.C.), which assists in the revival of the art of tap dancing.
