Sydney Theatre Company in association with Riverside Theatres presents
The Wharf Revue- Waiting For Garnaut
by Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe & Phillip Scott
From Tuesday 9 September for six performances only

Riverside Theatres presents a brand new offering of sharp satire and edgy humour with the ninth annual season of the Sydney Theatre Company’s THE WHARF REVUE from Tuesday 9 September for six performances only. The skilful revue team of Jonathan Biggins, Drew Forsythe, Phillip Scott and newcomer Amanda Bishop continue to make Sydneysiders laugh at themselves and each other through their incisive wit, political satire and mischievous theatrical antics.

As Australia holds its breath waiting for the government’s response to the Garnaut Review into Climate Change, the outrageously talented Wharf Revue team (now 25% ethanol) returns with their razor-sharp hybrid satire, eco-friendly characters, carbon-neutral sketches and recycled self-defecating humour.

In THE WHARF REVUE- WAITING FOR GARNAUT no one and nothing has been spared the glare of their irreverent spotlight. The show includes: The Sound of Rudd - Sister Kevin, having been placed with the Von Trapp working family, has a crisis of faith: can he fulfill his preelection vows? He returns to the convent to seek the advice of Mother Keating of the Order of the Economic Rationalists. And Brendan Nelson: I’m Not There - the many lives of Brendan Nelson come to you in an Indie bio-pic, “I’m Not There”. Like a rolling stone, he gathers no momentum.

Audiences will also be delighted with Mugabe brings Harmony - the Harare Gospel Choir (deceased) sing a traditional song of praise to Zimbabwe’s Lyin’ King; Calling Dr Iemma - is there a doctor in the lower house? Join Dr Iemma, Nurse Reba Meagher and the wacky staff of the Sussex St ER Department as they battle against the clock to resuscitate the terminal state of New South Wales; and Obama Rap - MC Obama hip-hops his way into history. He’s in da house… da White House.

For seven years THE WHARF REVUE, a troupe of four talented performers and who have been described as Australia’s finest ‘satirical vivisectionists’, have entertained audiences with a concoction of comedy, songs and satirical sketches. THE WHARF REVUE is now regarded as a dynamic Sydney cultural institution.

Jonathan Biggins has previously been seen in The Importance of Being Earnest, the Gilbert and Sullivan Savoy operas Ruddigore and The Mikado, the musical revue Three Men and a Baby Grand and film Gettin’ Square. Drew Forsythe has appeared in the Gilbert and Sullivan Savoy operas HMS Pinafore and the Mikado, as well as The Venetian Twins. Forsythe was also the voice of David Tench, the quick-witted and fearless animated talk show host. Phil Scott was involved in the series The Gillies Report, The Dingo Principle and Good News Week. He has written scores for films such as the Those Dear Departed, worked as a Musical Director for David Campbell and others, and written for Opera Australia’s production Orpheus of the Underworld. Alongside Biggs and Forsythe, Scott is a founding member of Three Men and a Baby Grand. Amanda Bishop has previously been seen in Actors At Work for the Bell Shakespeare Company, Losing Louis for the Ensemble Theatre and television series All Saints and Blue Heelers.

'After nine years, the Wharf Revue offers a well-oiled ensemble with a seasoned understanding of satire'- Sydney Morning Herald, Lenny Ann Low

'One of the most delightful things about he Wharf Revue team is their willingness to wade into the murky waters of bad taste in order to make a point'- The Daily Telegraph, Alex Lalak.

‘…it's tight and varied; new girl Amanda Bishop slots in with ease……Waiting for Garnaut is the revue we had to have as we slide back to the future and 1929'- Stage Noise, Diana Simmonds
