INDIE BANDS PLAY THE STOOP CONCERT SERIES IN LANDMARK HELL’S KITCHEN CHURCH

The Welcome Wagon, Courtney Wong, & Melanie Penn bring their unique Indie blend to The Stoop, a distinctive Hell’s Kitchen Music Venue.

NEW YORK, New York – June 5, 2012 – The Stoop, a distinctive music venue in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen is gearing up for a night of NYC’s Indie favorites, The Welcome Wagon, Courtney Wong, and Melanie Penn.

The Welcome Wagon is a married couple, the Reverend Thomas Vito Aiuto and his wife Monique, who execute a genre of gospel music that is refreshingly plain. Their hymns are modest and melodic takes on a vast history of sacred song traditions, delivered with the simple desire to know their Maker—and to know each other—more intimately. Enjoy music from their newest album Precious Remedies Against Satan’s Devices, a gathering of friends making music together - an alt-folk gem that sounds very much like it comes out of the Asthmatic Kitty label (co-owned by Sufjan Stevens). Courtney Wong is not only a talented singer-songwriter but is also a New York City Urban Project Artist working to bring awareness to and combat the issues of urban poverty and suffering through her music. She will be celebrating the release of her newest album live at The Stoop on July 21st.

The event will be emceed by Chris MacIntosh (aka “Grandfather Rock”) of WCWP Radio. Doors open at 7:30pm, and showtime is at 8pm. While the concert is pay-what-you-wish, The Stoop will be accepting suggested donations of $12. Receive a free gift with the full suggested cover. All drinks and concessions including beer and wine are inexpensively priced under $4.

The Stoop venue and concert series is presented by Music Forum of Church For All Nations, Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod. Church for All Nations is sponsoring the series in providing the landmark venue as a contribution to the cultural and spiritual life of Hell's Kitchen.
