From The Pasture To The Future finds the agile, acoustic quintet effortlessly knitting together sonic threads as diverse as punchy, hook-laden rock, fluent fiddle waltzes, jazz-inflected rumbas, and Celtic-tinged folk. With virtuosity and instrumentation suggestive of a bluegrass band – albeit one in which dynamic drumming is integral, banjo is conspicuously absent, and actual bluegrass material is a rarity – The Waybacks ultimately embrace multiple genres and put their unique stamp on the lot.
