Retiring at the end of 2007 after an expansive career that began at the Marlboro Festival in 1969, the Vermeer finishes its Beethoven Series with the mystical and aphoristic Op. 131, described by Beethoven himself as ?zusammengestohlen aus Verschiedenem diesem und jenem? (?made of various bits and pieces, stolen from here and there?). Also on the program, quartets Op. 18, No. 2, and Op. 74, "The Harp."
