Think Pink!

If you're finding those Cabernets, Merlots, and Syrahs a little too heavy
for leisurely sipping during the warm weather, it's time to start thinking
pink! Spring is here and summer's just around the corner, so it's time to
break out those crisp, refreshing rosés that inspire the palate with a style
all their own. They're perfect for picnics and can be served either with
light foods or all by themselves. Wine lovers in southern France go gaga for
rosé when the hot summer months come, and at the next meeting of the
Unpretentious Wine Club, you'll have a chance to see why.

Now, I'm sure some of you are a little leary of rosés, afraid of those
sticky-sweet Lancers and Mateus wines in the funny-shaped bottles (and of
blushes like white Zinfandel, which we won't be tasting). If that's your
idea of rosé, then you're in for a surprise. We'll sample a few of these
lovely (and often overlooked) wines from around the world. These are dry,
classy pink wines with crisp fruit flavors and refreshing acidity that
deliver quality while not taking themselves too seriously (or making a big
dent in your budget). We'll try one from Tavel, a classic rosé region in
France's Southern Rhône; one from Australia; one from Spain; and a surprise
or two. You'll be amazed at the range of colors and flavors that these wines
offer.

So come and taste with us on June 14! You'll leave saying hurray for rosé.
