A trip back to the cool days...a time of black slacks, blue suedes and poodle skirts.
Envision 1957, Paramount Theatre, Brooklyn, NY - lines around the block...10 artists on the bill...all with hit records...with one rockin' band.
The "Big Beat" was sweeping the nation. Picture this scene simultaneously occuring in Boston, Philly, Cleveland, Chicago, L.A., and many other cities. Now,imagine this same style event occuring with the same artists at the Kodak Theatre, March 8th with Terry Johnson's Flamingos ("I Only Have Eyes For You"), Gene Chandler ("Duke of Earl"), The Contours featuring Sylvester Potts ("Do You Love Me?"), The Fleetwoods ("Come Softly To Me"), Barbara Lewis ("Hello Stranger"), The Edsels ("Rama Lama Ding Dong"), The Vibrations ("Hang on Sloopy"), The Reflections ("Just Like Romeo & Juliet") and The Pentagons ("To Be Loved") - all performing their hits, all backed by The Blue Suede Orchestra.
As PBS has shown for years, these artsits are like proverbial fine wine. They've gotten better with age. Though much has changed in the ensuing decades, one thing has not - the passion for this music.
