We're bring car load to Indy and should be recovered, I think, after the 11:30 show on Friday night at Metro in Chicago. The Blackberry Belle show at the now defunct Patio in Indy was great. I'll never forget the band opening with "Cigarettes" and I look forward to another unforgettable show this time around.

Home, Sweet, Home. Myself plus one again. Busy during the day but could meet for dinner/drinks before the show. Naked Chopsticks next door to the Vogue has some of the best sushi in town. Bazbeaux Pizza has great pizza and is pretty laid back. Brugge Brasserie has upscale bar food and their own beers.

I'm coming in from chicago and staying at a hotel about 2 miles north of the Vogue. I'm planning to walk from the hotel to the show if the weather is good and just wondering if that neighborhood is cool to walk through?

rogets

Yes it's cool. Your only problem is the area north of the club is pretty suburban, there aren't many sidewalks and the roads are pretty narrow. Broad Ripple itself is on the border of the suburban/urban area of the city. It's the hip, cool, artsy part of town. Usually, unless I'm going to the Vouge for a show, I stay away from it at night as it gets overrun with 20 somethings (I'm almost 40). There's lots of restaurants, bars, clus, shops, and people around most of the time.
One caveat - there have been some problems with random attacks late a night. I STRONGLY suggest that you take a cab back to the hotel. Indy is not crawling with taxi's, so you'll probably have to call to get one. Yellow is my preference 317-487-7777.

Yep. I booked a room about six miles away and plan on just cabbing it to and fro, especially since I plan on partaking in several beverages. Thanks for the number for Yellow. Hopefully since it's Sunday most of the neigboring bars won't be as lively so I can sit, drink and chat.

Note to everyone traveling to this show - Indy 500 Qualifying was rained out this past weekend. They are going to try and qualify and bump all 33 cars next weekend, traffic - especially on the Westside will be heavy. I don't think it will have an affect on hotel rooms if you still need to book any.

Also, Broad Ripple info -

thanks for the taxi info...anyone know the deal with needing 2 ID's to get in the bar? Do they both have to be photo ID'S, seems wierd to me.

rogets

I've don't remember having to show 2 ID's ever but I don't go there very often and it's been awhile.

Any interest in a meet up? I'm leaving tomorrow for Mpls and will be back late Saturday. I'll be in the area all day Sunday attending the Broad Ripple Art Fair (36th year), check it out if you need something to do....oh yeah, don't know why I didn't think of this before....early in the day parking will be a pain but should thin out by concert time.

summerskiss

a meetup sounds great. got a recommendation for time and place?

rogets

I'M IN MPLS - FIRST SHOW TONITE!!!!

OK, now that I've got that out of my system......how bout Bazbeaux www.bazbeaux.com bout 5:00? We can start there and then stay or head to a "real" bar before the Vouge opens.

Cleis

I'm game for meeting up with some people at Bazbeaux. In regards to the 2 ID thing, I've never had that happen at the Vogue--I've only been asked to show my driver's license.

PhanoBarbieDahl

Ooh, Bazbeaux and then some cheap drinks at the Cat sounds like a good start to the evening. And the two ID thing only applies if you look 14 and are trying to get into one of the Vogue's skanky dance nights. ;)

rogets

Writing from Chicago - both shows have been excellent. I'll be at Bazbeaux at 5:00 or just after and will be the offical "welcomer" Everyone is encouraged to come on down, have some pizza and a few brews and hang with us!

rogets

Waited til 5:40, didn't see anyone. Glad I was already in the area and didn't make a special trip for this....
