Time is an essential component of memory, identity, hopes and fears. It is easily sensed, hard to define and beyond direct perception. Observations from philosophy, psychology, neurobiology and literature can guide us in understanding how our bodies and minds deal with time. And literary analysis reveals how female fiction and nonfiction writers use chronological, universal and historical time to create memorable stories.
