The Great Flood of 1936 commemorates the worst flood in Pittsburgh's history. On St. Patrick's Day 70 years ago, heavy rain and melting snow created a flood that killed 62 people, injured more than 500, and displaced 135,000 people from their homes. Millions of dollars were lost in damage to houses and businesses.
