Virago Theatre Company's The Taming of the Shrew is a taut, juicy physical romp set today in the dangerously exciting biker underworld of low-dealing and high stakes. After an embarrassing sex scandal, Petruchio finds himself without a livelihood, without a woman and most importantly without cash. When he learns that the father of the dangerous and sexy Katherine has offered up a large endowment to the man who can woo and marry his daughter, Petruchio sees a way to bring himself back to his former glory and get himself a lover.

Directed by Robert Lundy-Paine and featuring Garth Petal* as Petruchio, Angela Dant as Katherine, Clara Kamunde as Baptista, Teressa Byrne* as Bianca, Patrick Jones* as Lucentio, Tamara Leigh Miller as Tranio, Linda Ruth Cardozo as Gremio, Benjamin Pither* as Hortensio, Jeremy Vik as Grumio, Siobhan Doherty as Biondello, Dorian Lockett as Pedant, Martin A. In addition to Virago's usual special events with ticket (Opening Night Post-Show Reception on November 5, the Talk-Back with cast and director on November 18, and the Closing Night Reception on November 20), Virago Theatre Company is excited to launch a new can't-miss event, First Saturdays! This special ticket for Saturday, November 6 is only $50 and includes a pre-show happy hour beginning at 6:30pm in the K Gallery at Rhythmix Cultural Work complete with live music, hors d' oeuvres, a custom cocktail crafted by Dave Smith of St George Spirits and Hangar One, and a chance to meet the cast and director before heading upstairs to the beautiful theatre space at Rhythmix Cultural Works to watch the show.
