A Special Birthday Benefit Concert by Acclaimed Musician John Pieplow at The Ardmore at 705 in Hermosa Beach, CA. A portion of the evening's proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

WHO: South Bay residents, business owners, and Hollywood entertainment industry guests. Acclaimed Musician John Pieplow, known for his unique musical blend of blues, jazz and pop, will perform a special birthday benefit concert for the American Cancer Society.

He has played at the East West Pro Tennis Classic at Home Depot Center, the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater with Huey Lewis and the News; Chicago; Earth, Wind and Fire and Chris Botti. John was the headline band for the 2008 St. Patrick's Day Show at the House of Blues Sunset Strip.

He has opened for The English Beat; Rock Star Supernova Winner Lucas Rossi; American Idol Finalist Ryann Star, five-time Grammy-nominee, Ambrosia; and multi-Grammy and Oscar-winner Christopher Cross at the House of Blues Sunset Strip. Pieplow has won several music awards including: "Best Alternative Band 2004;" "Best Solo Artist 2003;" a 2005 nomination for "Best Guitarist;" 2006 "Album of the Year;" and a 2007 nomination for "Best Song-Writer" by LA's Rock City News.

In the past year and a half, John Pieplow has performed more than 80 shows at premiere music venues in Los Angeles including the House of Blues, Troubadour, Key Club, Whiskey A Go Go, The Roxy, The El Rey Theatre and the Viper Room.

In addition to his musical appeal, John developed a dedicated fan base as the film director of the cult favorite "STRANGELAND." (See film/theatre bio below)

WHERE: The Ardmore at 705 (Club 705) located at 705 Pier Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254 (310) 372-9705. Free, covered parking is available directly behind the building off Ardmore St.

HOW: $10 donation includes appetizers prepared by The Ardmore Chef, formerly with Donald Trump National Golf Course, Palos Verdes and the Viceroy Hotel. A portion of the evening's proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

WHY: The South Bay Professional Connection's (TSBPC) mission is to promote the interests of the South Bay as a whole to the media, the public, businesses, and residents.

TSBPC provides a wide variety of community, professional, social and business opportunities for professional groups, companies, and others interested in connecting with South Bay businesses, residents, visitors, and cultural, entertainment and educational institutions.

ABOUT JOHN PIEPLOW
A native of Brooklyn, NY, John Pieplow began a career as a theatre and film director soon after designing film sequences for several Broadway shows, including the hit musical (and nine-time Tony Award-nominee), Baby, and as well as the dramas Terra Nova (written by Academy Award-winner Ted Tally) and Lolita (written by Pulitzer- Prize winner Edward Albee).

Following Broadway, he directed numerous award-winning commercials, including campaigns and product launches for top fortune 500 companies such as Visa, American Express, and Pepsi with Michael Jackson.

Upon moving to Los Angeles, Pieplow returned to the theatre, directing nine plays in less than two years. His production of Red River Rats was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. He is widely known as the director of the hit international cult film, Strangeland.

A lifelong guitarist and keyboard player, John Pieplow has worked and performed with many outstanding and prominent musicians including co-producing a film soundtrack album, titled, Rebel, with Yes co-founder, Chris Squire. John also wrote and performed music for the prime-time television show, Sons and Daughters, for Lorne Michaels and NBC. This spring, he will join mega-hit rock group, Foreigner, as their opening act.
