The Slingers' Ball presented by Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue February 20, 2009

Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue (www.glmr.org) is having its first ever benefit. THE SLINGERS’ BALL is a dress to impress event scheduled from 7:00 pm through 10:00 pm on Friday, February 20, 2009 and will be held at The Darkroom Lounge located at 2210 W. Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Tickets for the event will be $50 and will include an open bar with appetizers plus a DJ. Attendees must be 21 years of age and over - humans only. Tickets can be purchased via the Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue (“GLMR”) website www.glmr.org or checks can be sent payable to Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue, Inc., P.O. Box 618, West Branch, MI 48661-0618. A silent auction will be held during the benefit featuring hotel packages, dining, spa, dog related items and much more.

Our rescue program dedicates itself to finding good permanent homes for Mastiffs that have been surrendered, abandoned, abused and/or neglected. The Mastiff is a kind, gentle, devoted, loving family member. These wonderful Mastiffs come to us from shelters or owners who can no longer care for them. With the economy in its current state, many owners can no longer afford to care for their Mastiffs especially when medical care is required. We place over 100 Mastiffs annually in our region. Every Mastiff that goes through GLMR is temperament tested, spayed or neutered, given medical examinations and vaccinated prior to being re-homed. When it is deemed appropriate, serious medical and surgical conditions are undertaken at GLMR's expense. We have spent in excess of $35,000 on TPLO cruciate repair surgeries and treated Heartworm Positive dogs at a cost of $700-$900 per dog.
