While we were busy admiring his gifts as a performer, Yo-Yo Ma was transforming himself into a musical visionary. Ma returns to Symphony Hall for two concerts with the ensemble he created and now leads—the unique and brilliant Silk Road Ensemble, celebrating its 10th season. Yo-Yo Ma’s Symphony Hall visit includes two distinct programs of works that synthesize the myriad musical traditions found along the ancient Asia-Europe trade route known as The Silk Road. This powerful music-making experiment is a cross-cultural journey to the heart of understanding.
