One of the boldest young voices in contemporary theater, Korean-American playwright and director Young Jean Lee applies her acid wit to the black experience and African-American identity politics in The Shipment, taking the audience on an awkward and volatile roller-coaster ride through the discomforts and absurdities that arise whenever people start trying to talk about the black experience in America.

With brutal honesty and humor, The Shipment dares to ask embarrassing questions and seek solutions to impossible problems, raising pointed issues of ethnic appropriation and race relations that will leave people reeling.

In Cooperation with the Ackland Art Museum presenting Jacob Lawrence and The Legend of John Brown, Jan. 16 - May 9, 2010.

"...a subversive, seriously funny new theater piece."
