Stables Market, Camden
London, England

The Ruckus blog are proud to announce that from December 6th we will be running regular Monday night gigs in the south gallery of Proud Camden.
This follows on and develops from the successful gigs we ran in The Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green, and allows us to showcase more of the artists and bands that we love.
One of our greatest loves at The Ruckus is sharing up and coming artists, and now we get to do this live as well as in print.

Our opening night includes three very exciting musical acts from London and further afield.

Jamie Ley

Jamie is someone The Ruckus have supported and followed for some time, and we are honoured to have him perform for us. His particular brand of folk music clearly has similar influences to some of his West London contemporaries, but his unique and beautiful voice and writing bring a charm all his own. The Fly Magazine asked " Is Jamie Ley more Jeff Buckley or more Paolo Nutini? The answer is: who cares when he’s got a voice like that? Pure perfection in a neat, melodious bundle" and we quite agree. Having seen Jamie perform a number of times I can assure you all you are in for a treat.

Treecreepers

Treecreepers are not a band we have covered on the site thus far, but since we booked them I have been listening to them frequently, even braving myspace which says a lot as my hatred for the site is great. Described to me as somewhere between Zuma era Neil Young and Sun Kil Moon they can be loud and rocky or blissed out folk. Knowing my musical preferences they are doing the blissed out folk side of things for us, and I just cannot wait. Rough Trade Shops described their album as " Full of bittersweet poetry and raging crazy horse guitar solos, this is a perfect soundtrack to rural summers everywhere."

Jack Palmer and Will McNicol

When The Ruckus went to Southsea Festival this year we were told that no matter what happened, we had to see these pair perform. So we squeezed our way into an overfilled cafe, sat down with a lovely cup of tea, and listened to some of the most beautifully performed guitar music we had heard in a while. We knew straight away they we had to get these boys to London to perform for you all. Both boys perform separately, but they also have a tendency to perform together pretty frequently, and so we are presenting them as a duo although I am sure there will be solo stuff on the night too. Will doesn't sing, but the things he can do with a guitar will make you forget that songs normally have words. Jack does sing, and very well, beautiful folky/americana influenced numbers with lots of lovely loop pedal action that makes me a very happy girl.
