Through music from the ancient world and interfaith discussion, we will together explore the tale of Abraham - known as "Blessed Father," "Father in Faith" and "Imam to the Nations" - the spiritual ancestor whose story reveals a shared heritage. Featuring a variety of traditional Arabic and period European instruments, the program includes Jewish para-liturgical music from Morocco, Turkey and Libya; Arabic chant from the Maronite tradition; Gregorian & Latin chants; Renaissance motets; nomadic dances from the Bedouin community of Southern Sinai; and Hebrew chant from the Florentine Sephardic community. Please join us for a reception following each performance. With Rabbi Shoshana Dworsky, Carleton College; Father Michael O'Connell, Basilica of Saint Mary; Imam Makram N. El-Amin, Masjid An-Nur; Tom Crann, Minnesota Public Radio. All seats $20.
