Deborah Haynes, award winning Times defence correspondent will talk about the role of translators and interpreters in conflict zones. The lecture will be followed with a celebratory event to mark the 25th anniversary of the Masters in Translation at Salford.

This lecture is part of a series on the theme of "Language and Society". The series is to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the Masters in Translation and the four lectures in the series will cover a range of themes flagging up the wider importance of language for society.
