Bringing together a collection of established artists and organizations reaching marginalized individuals through art, The Republic to End Poverty - Art Show and Fundraiser is a unique summer event.

National anti-poverty organization and charity, Canada Without Poverty has partnered with Vancouver art organization MAB Ventures Inc. to organize the show on Thursday, August 19th, 2010 at Republic nightclub in downtown Vancouver. Believing in a Canada that is free from poverty, this event is meant to raise awareness about poverty issues in our community and demonstrate the solidarity of artists committed to positive change.

Featuring live art, body painters, established local artists as well as artists working with organizations from the downtown eastside of Vancouver such as Gallery Gachet, The Republic to End Poverty will benefit Canada Without Poverty and their efforts in British Columbia to eradicate poverty.

After doors open at 6pm at Republic nightclub, guests will be able to enjoy the various art collections on both levels, as well as a silent auction, live body painting, and door raffle for the chance to be Picasso for an evening. Three winners will be able to create a unique piece of art while they are mentored by experienced local artist, Monika Blichar. The piece will be a spontaneous on the spot art creation which will unite three strangers in efforts to raise funds for poverty in British Colombia as well as raise awareness of the power of uniting within our community and making change. The one of a kind art piece will then be displayed in various locations in Vancouver and will be auctionned off after a 90 day tour in the local community.

Recognizing art as an important expression of personal belief and unity, The Republic to End Poverty brings to light the integral role art can play in individual healing and growth. Groups we are happy to feature such as Gallery Gacchet have been successful in bringing together individual talent while highlighting issues connected to poverty and mental health.
