From tween sensation Girl Authority to the instantly hum-able songs of Ben Rudnick and Friends, children’s musical performers will take the stage this summer as The Regattabar at The Charles Hotel launches its first-ever Kids Summer Music Series.

The series will begin on Sunday, July 22, 2007 with a performance by Ben Rudnick and Friends. Shows will continue for the next three consecutive Sundays featuring Audra Rox, SteveSongs and Girl Authority, and the Dirty Sock Funtime Band. Tickets can be purchased online at www.regattabarjazz.com All shows start at 3 pm. Doors will open at 2 pm for pre-show activities.

Since the release of Emily Songs in 2000, Ben Rudnick and Friends have been playing family-friendly music, featuring a unique acoustic sound ranging from light folk to calypso, bluegrass, and rock. Ben Rudnick and Friends integrate classic songs such as Route 66, Somewhere Over The Rainbow and Beatles tunes delighting the entire family.

Singer/songwriter/music educator Audra Tsanos has been rocking out with New York City families for the past eight years. AudraRox, her high-energy kid-rock band, is made up of six professional musicians, who perform insightful, original songs that tackle everything from lost shoes and broken toys to sugar highs and short attention spans with a wry wit that appeals equally to children and their parents.

One of the hardest working performing artists in the children’s music business, SteveSongs performs at hundreds of venues each year, and has developed a vast repertoire of family-friendly tunes. His 2006 release Marvelous Day! won a Parent’s Choice Gold Award as one of the best CDs of 2006. From funky rock to ska to flute-y folk and power pop, all of SteveSongs tunes invite sing-along participation.
Girl Authority is a group of nine girls ages 10-15, each with an individual identity that ties in with their personality: Tarr (Rock-n-Roll Girl), Alex (Fashion Girl), Jacqueline (All-Star Girl), Carly (Glamour Girl), Jess (Boho Girl), Gina (Urban Girl), Crystal (Country Girl), Kate (Party Girl) and Zoë (Preppy Girl). Girl Authority released its second CD, Road Trip, in March. Road Trip is a collection of five original songs and 14 covers that celebrates the joy of youthful girl-power, with family-friendly musical fare aimed toward and performed by the target audience’s peers.

Voted the Best Kids Band of 2006, by the readers of TIME OUT NY KIDS, they're "infectious", they're "irresistible," they're the Dirty Sock Funtime Band, the highest energy kids' rock band ever to break out of New York City. The Dirty Socks rock in all kinds of musical styles and play some of the most innovative and exciting children’s music ever.

Family-Style Dining
Henrietta’s Table, located in The Charles Hotel, will feature family style meals following each of the shows. Each dinner will include three appetizers, two entrees, three side dishes and a dessert sampler. Family-style dinners are priced at $35 per person; $15 for kids 12 and under.
