Feature film, 8 pm: The Red Violin (1998; 131 minutes)

Cinema Supper Club: A Cultural Kaleidoscope continues at the Legion of Honor with a screening of The Red Violin (1998; 131 minutes) on May 1. On Thursday evenings at the Legion through May 8, enjoy after-hours access to Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer’s Life, 1990–2005, bistro favorites and drinks in the Legion Café, and a film in the historic Florence Gould Theater. “A Cultural Kaleidoscope” presents movies that reflect a spectrum of cultural events including theater, music, and dance. The Red Violin is a drama that tells the story of a long-lost "red violin" crafted in the Italian Renaissance that shows up at an auction, enthralling a curious connoisseur (Samuel L. Jackson). In flashbacks through three centuries, the instrument reveals its mysterious history and the lives of its previous owners. For the spring series, the Legion Café introduces a newly expanded menu, and all items are available in both the café bar and dining room. The special exhibition and Museum Store are open until 9 pm.

Tickets are $20 ($10 Members) for the movie and special exhibition. For the special exhibition only, admission is $15 (Members are free). Tickets are on a first-come, first-served basis and do not include the price of dinner or a dinner reservation. The first dinner seating is at 6 pm.

For tickets and more information, visit www.legionofhonor.org. Movie tickets can be purchased online at www.museumtix.com or at the admissions desk at the Legion of Honor while tickets last. Dinner reservations must be made separately and in advance by calling 415.750.7633.
