Sir Richard Branson
CEO of the Virgin Group
Richard Branson was born in 1950, and educated at Stowe School, where he established a national magazine called Student at the age of sixteen. He started a Student Advisory Centre at age 17 to help young people. In 1970 he founded Virgin as a mail order record retailer and shortly thereafter opened a record shop in Oxford Street, London. During 1972 a recording studio was built in Oxfordshire where the first Virgin artist, Mike Oldfield, recorded "Tubular Bells" which was released in 1973. The first album of the newly created Virgin Records went on to sell over 5 million copies and over the years many household names, including, Belinda Carlisle, Genesis, Phil Collins, Janet Jackson and The Rolling Stones helped make Virgin Music one of the top six record companies in the world. The equity of Virgin Music Group - record labels, music publishing, and recording studios was sold to THORN EMI in 1992 in a US$1Bn deal. The interests of Virgin Group have now expanded into international "Megastore" music retailing, air travel, mobile, financial, retail, music, internet, drinks, rail, resorts and leisure, through around 200 companies in over 30 countries. In December 1999 Richard Branson was awarded a knighthood in the Queen's millennium New Years honours list for "services to entrepreneurship".

Michael D. Eisner
CEO, Walt Disney Company (1984 – 2005)
Michael D. Eisner joined The Walt Disney Company as Chairman and CEO in 1984. In twenty-one years at its helm, he revitalized and reinvented Disney into a full spectrum entertainment enterprise. Under his leadership, the company began implementation of a continuing series of creative growth strategies that resulted in its annual revenues rising from $1.7 billion to more than $30 billion. During his stewardship, Disney animation experienced a renaissance with hits including The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. Disney also became a leader in live-action films with pictures such as Pretty Woman, Sixth Sense and Pirates of the Caribbean. Mr. Eisner has been a leader in the entertainment industry for nearly forty years helping to shape this key area of the American economy. Eisner is the author of two books, Work in Progress, which he co-authored with Tony Schwartz, about his involvement in the entertainment industry, and Camp about the life lessons that come from leading a canoe expedition or sitting around a campfire. Mr. Eisner graduated from The Lawrenceville School in 1960 and Denison University in 1964 with a Bachelor's of Arts in English literature and theater.

The Honourable Belinda Stronach is a community, business and public leader who cares deeply about Canada and the broader issues of quality of life. Room to Read
John Wood spent most of his career running significant parts of Microsoft’s international business, including the worldwide launch of the billion dollar Office 95 campaign. At age 35, he left his job as director of business development for Microsoft Corp.’s Greater China region to form Room to Read, a nonprofit organization that promotes literacy in impoverished parts of the world. Room to Read, founded in 2000, has sponsored the opening of a network of over 2,500 libraries and 200 schools across Asia, with a goal of increasing the network to 20,000 serving at least 10 million children. In 2006, the organization will expand into Africa, starting with Ethiopia. Wood’s many honors include being the only non-Asian chosen for Time Magazine’s Asian Heroes Award. He was selected for the inaugural group of Young Global Leaders by the World Economic Forum and is a three-time winner of the Fast Company magazine and Monitor Group Social Capitalist Award. A native of Connecticut, John Wood holds a B.S. from the University of Colorado, awarded magna cum laude, and a Masters in Business Administration from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
