Spring has finally made it to the West Coast! Now comes the transition from the artificial glow of our computer monitors to the natural sunlight. And what better way to enjoy spring than on a neighbourhood walk.
Neighbourhoods need certain things to be in place in order for residents to live healthy. In particular, we need safe streets to walk or bike on, parks to play in, affordable recreation, and local stores stocked with affordable veggies and fruits.
So join us as we take a stroll around the neighbourhood and you will be able to see how all those things affect healthy living.
[ Pre-Walk ]
Time: 6:30 pm
Where: Waves Coffee on West Broadway and Spruce (http://tinyurl.com/csbkr7)
What: Quick introduction to BCHLA, issues, and the walk
[ The Walk ]
Time: 7:00 – 7:40 pm
Where: Around the ‘hood
What: Walk and talk!
Before the walk, we’ll meet up at Waves Coffee on West Broadway and Spruce. We’ll plot our route and tell you more about the healthy living issues we think are critical for a healthy community. Then we’ll take you for a walk around the ‘hood’ to demonstrate why these issues are so important. And if the weather is nasty – we’ll still meet up but possibly take short tour courtesy of Google Maps.
