The Pattern Realm: Aesthetics of Kuba Textiles June 16, 2012

This lecture will explore the pattern language and improvisational aesthetic of Kuba surface design, as expressed in two techniques (applique and embroidery) and the complementary styles of geometric abstraction of ceremonial skirts and status cloth.
