The Paradise Makers Lecture Series – Those who shaped Vancouver in the Post-war

Ray Spaxman

When Ray Spaxman was recruited in 1973 to be the third city planner in Vancouver's history, he not only reflected the change of times, he changed the way the city would develop. With a new spirit of 'neighbourliness,' he introduced urban design and community consultation into the approval process, and led a new generation of architects, developers and planners in the creation of the "livable city." In this interview, Ray will reflect on his time at Vancouver City Hall - and the global projects he is involved with today from the perspective of 17 subsequent years as a planning consultant.
