Olympic Ballet Theatre opens its annual Season with its ever-popular full-length traditional performance of The Nutcracker. This year’s spirited holiday favorite will bring special featured artists, Whitney Simler and Corbin Popp, from Broadway’s Movin’ Out and the 1st National Tour. Performances will take place December 2nd at 2:00 and 7:00 PM and December 3rd, 16th, and 17th at 2:00 PM for the Opening Season of the newly renovated Edmonds Center for the Arts and with the Everett Symphony Orchestra on December 9th at 2:00 and 7:00 PM and December 10th at 2:00 PM at the Everett Civic Auditorium.

The Nutcracker is a lively, family-oriented production that celebrates the holiday season. Beautiful Snowflakes, the sparkling Sugarplum Fairy, a wonderful Mother Ginger with her little Buffoons, a Christmas Tree that grows before your eyes, and a Booming Cannon all add to the delight of this ballet.

The unique and creative choreography of John and Helen Wilkins enhances each scene, including the “Waltz of the Flowers,” “Chinese Tea,” “Waltz of the Snowflakes,” and the lively “Party Scene,” where the magic comes alive in Clara’s home. New and innovative choreography by Daniel Wilkins includes a great sword fight, and a daring “Arabian.” This year’s performances will include guest artists from Wilkins’ own company danielandsomesuperfriends, New York City Ballet, Spectrum Dance Theater, and Evergreen City Ballet.
